2024 Docent Training Course

This course prepares prospective docents to lead tours of Morris Center exhibitions, focusing on the Fuel the Mind 4th grade Field Trips. Trainees will be asked to present a mock tour at the end of the training, as well as score an 85 or above on the final assessment.

Once new docent trainees complete the course, they are expected to give a minimum of 2 years of active service and attend additional trainings, as new exhibitions open.

Course Schedule:

Sessions meet Tuesdays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Week 5 (April 9)

Media Literacy / Visual Literacy Tour Techniques


Week 6 (April 16)

Interactives / Hands-On Experiences for Young Audiences


Week 7 (April 23)

Mock Tours of Exhibitions


Week 8 (April 30)

Internships

Our internship program is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate, graduate, and beginning professionals to obtain practical experience in a specific area of museum work. Interns will gain practical and theoretical training and work closely with the Director of Programs and Exhibits.
